Thank you for evaluating CodeBase applets - we hope you'll find them valuable additions to your site.

In fact, we hope you'll find them valuable enough to want to register them! If you do, you'll find full
details in the accompanying documentation, or you can skip that tedious stuff, grab your credit card
and go straight to http://www.codebase.co.uk/register to register online using our secure payment
system.

You can also register by mail or wire transfer, or by encrypted email using our PayMaster utility (32-bit
Windows systems only) and details are given on our web site.

A single applet license allows the applet to be run from a single URL, and this URL is coded into the
applet to prevent any unauthorized use. You can use the applet on any number of pages at or below
the URL for which it was registered. We cannot accept base domains of ISPs or free-space providers
(such as www.geocities.com or www.usa.net) for registration. We require the path to the index page
of your site (such as www.usa.net/~me/ or www.geocities.com/Athens/1000/).

If you want to register several applets, why not consider registering a Suite? There are currently 3
suites, each containing 7 of our most popular applets, and each gives a saving of over 20% compared
to registering the 7 applets individually. If there isn't a suite containing the 7 applets you want, drop
us a line and we'll give you a similar "20% off" price for your custom suite.

INSTALLING CODEBASE APPLETS
All applets are provided in self-extracting ZIP archives (.exe extension). To extract the contents of an
archive, just double-click it. The application will suggest a target directory of C:\CodeBase, although
you can select a different directory if you want to. The result, if you downloaded ProMap for example,
would be a new directory named C:\CodeBase\ProMap. If you expect to download several CodeBase
applets, you'll find it handy to install them all to the same directory.

If you prefer to extract the contents of the archive manually using WinZip (or some other ZIP utility),
please select the option to "Use Folder Names". This ensures that the relative links in the documentation
will function.

If you later download a registered or updated copy of an applet, extract the archive to the same directory
again and ensure the option to overwrite files is selected. All files will be automatically updated to ensure
that the documentation is kept current.

If you download the Archive, containing evaluation copies of every current CodeBase applet, a
subfolder will created for each applet inside C:\CodeBase and a single HTML file will provide a one-stop
index to everything you need.

These installations will not make any other type of modification to your system.

A NOTE ABOUT FILE NAMES
Note that many files in these archives use long filenames. When you extract the contents, make sure that
they unzip with the full name, which requires a 32-bit unzip utility rather than a 16-bit unzip utility. It's
especially important that the names of the class files are unchanged and their extensions really are '.class'
and not '.cla'. If you're using a 16-bit operating system, you'll have to rename the class files after uploading
them to your web server, ensuring that the case of the name is also correct.
