Dynamix Overview

Dynamix is a dual-level menu with a Dynamic HTML look and feel. Using an adjustable mouse-hover time, sections of the menu open and close as the mouse moves into and out of their captions, revealing and hiding the menu entries contained within each section. An unlimited number of captions can be used, each containing an unlimited number of entries. (A caption can also be used as a direct link itself instead of opening a section.)

A number of color and display parameters let you choose exactly how the captions and menu entries should appear when unfocused, focused or clicked. Selector bars can be switched on or off, with a choice of styles; menu entries can be underlined when focused; menu entries and captions can be switched to bold type when focused; and an optional arrowhead can be placed beside the focused entry.

A background image can be shown behind the captions and entries (tiled if required). The menu can auto-close when the mouse leaves or remain open to help the user remember where they were. Dynamix supports our unique Satellite system, allowing external images or text to be displayed elsewhere on the page (or even in a separate frame or window). Like all linking Cool Focus applets, Dynamix allows URL parameters to point to JavaScript methods rather than URLs if required, and can display a web-style hand pointer over links.

NEW!...

  • This version of Dynamix adds a new public setCloseOnExit(boolean) method which can be addressed via JavaScript, optionally letting the user of your site decide whether the menu should remain open when the mouse exits. See JavaScript Control for more details.
